Sachi's Blog For English Speakers

One of my most random posts...[non-DBSK]

Since I started this job, I had taken to reading English blogs about Korean Entertainment so I can relate to my students more. One such blog is Popseoul. More than the articles themselves--many of which I would have heard from other sources, like my students--the comments left by the readers there are always worth a read. Always, there is a scramble to be the first to leave a comment--and just write the word 'first', and the aftermath is quite amusing.

During my long break this morning, I happened to visit the site just as an article was being posted, so I was able to read the article without the comments. I felt a fleeting rush of excitement and victory and an urge to leave a 'first' comment, but, alas, I didn't have an account. So, I just took a screenshot of the page.

Junsu's vocal skills

This has been bothering me for quite a while.

Why do a lot people think that Xiah Junsu's voice is amazing? Apparently, some have even said that his vocals are so great that he should do solo activities. Seung-ri of Big Bang has a big man-crush on him and his vocals.

I don't get it.

Don't get me wrong. I think Junsu is a great singer. He's passionate when he sings, and you can see it on stage. But I don't think he sounds all THAT great. IN MY OPINION, his voice sounds gets a bit whiny and unpolished sometimes. It's the kind of voice that needs a great song to shine.

I'm probably biased in this, but I think it should be the other way around. I consider versatility an important trait because it takes a great singer to make a shitty song shine. Jaejoong, for example can sing different genres well. He sounds good in rock, in ballads, in dance, in R&B--hell, even TROT (which seems to be emerging as a dark horse fad now. o.O i dunno why). Junsu sounds fantastic in ballads and sometimes dance, but I don't think he'll do well in, say, rock. His voice turns a bit kiddie and too 'helium' in the high notes. His voice is a bit too specialized for my taste.

Sorry if I'm so evil. I really don't understand it. ^^; Feel free to put in your two cents.

Nakashima Mika - "Koe" lyrics

From her latest album, "VOICE". I decided to post this because I can't seem to find the romanized lyrics online. That, or I just don't know how to search properly. (EDIT: I already found some, but hey it wouldn't hurt, right?)

Anyway, I romanized this myself, so do tell if there are corrections. As to how I got the kanji lyrics...well, my GOM player at the office has a "karaoke" feature (lyrics, highlights) and somehow it was able to find kanji lyrics of "Koe" somewhere. Proper credits.

Kim Hyun-joong's New Hair = JAEJOONG MIROTIC???? [random k-drama]

If you're working in my field, you don't need to be a Korean drama fan to know that the Korean version of "Hana Yori Dango" is currently making waves. At least one of your students (supposing you have more than one...but if you have just one, then most likely...yeah) has probably mentioned it, commented about Lee Min-ho's perm, Kim Bum's cuteness, Kim Hyun-joong's uncanny resemblance to Shun Oguri (who coincidentally plays the same role in the Japanese version), and the Kissing Star necklace.

Good then! Most likely you've researched something about the drama or, even better, watched every episode. Then you must know that the F4--who are in college now--are sporting new hairstyles now. Lee Min-ho is still 'pama', but still very hot (gawd, if you can pull off that hairstyle, then you must be smoking!).Kim Bum and the other F4 guy nobody seems to notice much have similar hairstyles. Kim Hyun-joong...LOOKS LIKE KIM JAEJOONG!!!!!

This is Kim Hyun-joong's before and after pic, from POPSEOUL.

Left is BEFORE, right is AFTER.

Now, this is Jaejoong's hair:

Photo creds: DBSKNIGHTS and DNBN. From Yeonyega Relay, KBS2. Wow, and in the picuture, Jaejoong's commenting about KHJ in Hana Yori. Hahaha. They're BFF's after all.

What do you say about the pics? Some friendship, huh? Even hairstyle and color's the same. Even their NAMES sound the same. Hahahahaha. But, of course, Jaejoong is waaaaaaayy hotter than KHJ.

OMG!!!!!

Pasok si ANOOOOOOOP DESAI!!!! OMG!!! So happy!

Strike Two

I like to keep count of things. It lengthens my patience a great deal. Strike two doesn't mean I'm going to punch your nose the next time you mess with my work. It means there's going to be a strike three, four, five...until you get it on your own.

I said FUCK OFF already.

Is there a real, valid and pressing point in this? Jeez. I don't understand why I have to do it. You telling me to do something is fucking annoying. It makes my job more menial than it already is. Again, I HAVE MY OWN FUNCTIONING SYSTEM, mind your own.

Monday, February 09, 2009

Would you just...

FUCK THE HELL OFF?

I think you mean well, but hey, could you at least let me do things my way? It doesn't affect you in anyway, just probably your OC-ness. Sorry, I'm an OC when it comes to this as well. It's IRRITATING when you mess with my system. This is working for me, so don't impose yours on mine.

I don't hate you, but it's annoying and it's not helping me adjust.

Karaoke Random (Hey, IA APARENTADO and NINA)

Recent obsession ko ring maghanap ng DBSK or my other fave artists' songs sa Kumyoung karaoke.

OMO. Talk about adik. Matagal ko nang hinahanap ang Love in the Ice ng DBSK for our DBSKaraoke/recording/sauna/chever, subalit it remains elusive.

Fuck. Since Timezone uses Vivaus, well, duh.

I will try sa mahal na noraebang, pero....wala pa akong resources at time. Haaaaay...

Happy Birthday, Yunho! [YUNJAE ALERT]

pic creds: Ichigo

posted at: allkpop.com

Happy birthday, Leader Yunho! Wonder what the boys have in store for you. Especially Jaejoong. *snicker*

Speaking of Jaejoong, according to reports on DBSKer and DBSKnights, his mother recently revealed that his real birthday is on February 4th and not January 26th. She just changed the birthday because Feb 4th was malas daw. Come to think of it, chaka nga yung Feb. 4 namin this year. Hmmmmmm....

That means, Yunjae birthday week! Aish!

On Jaejoong's birthday, I celebrated by cooking JJmyun (jajangmyun=jaejoongmyun keke, walang kinalaman) and giving myself an at-home pedicure. And spazzing. Today, I'll be flying to Cebu and will try to look for karaoke with Wrong Number and rap my heart out. Or Love in the Ice and har-moan-ize to death.

YUNJAE GRAFFITI!!!!

00@ TVXQBaidu + fangirlmitz

This was written by fans on the SM Entertainment building.

Focus your attention on the names in the weirdly-shaped "cartouche" (yeah, that big one in the middle). The bold names there are "U-know" (top) and "Yoochun" (bottom), but beside U-know, there's a heart and a small "Jaejoong", then beside Yoochun, there's also a heart and "Junsu". Not sure if the U-know/Yoochun were written there first then another fan decided to put the hearts and the Jaejoong and Junsu, but it looks like it. See how the Jaejoong and the Junsu were fitted in the shape. Anyway, I LOVE THEM FANS.

Ah, poor CHANGMIN. T.T

"Love in the Ice" Harmonization + Porn

Screw you, perfect attendance.

Payday yesterday. NOT HAPPY.

This freaking attendance incentive scheme is bullshit. It does not excourage you to try harder when you've made a mistake, but rather makes you feel like you can continue making mistakes, as the penalty is pretty much the same. Yeah, it's the freaking same.

I don't ra-damned understand this scheme. Well, nobody does. And that's what makes it bullshit. They keep changing it and changing it and it becomes even more complicated. Fuck credit system. When you're late or absent, then, fine no/less incentive for that month. The next month, your attendance is pristine, and FUCK IT YOU'RE STILL PENALIZED FOR LAST MONTH????!!!!!

Wow.

Don't be absent ever. If you don't want complications, clean up your attendance. Even if you're dying, go to work. Even if your family needs you, go to freaking work. Even if---whatever. Wow, just go to freaking work, fuck it.

Some care you're giving us.

Changmin, his mouth, and 'Love in the Ice' [Random DBSK]

I often notice that Changmin always looks weird when he's singing. I mean, he's cute, but somehow, there's something ChaWon (dimension=alien) about him. He makes funny faces or movements and sometimes it distracts me from the meaning of the song. But it's entertaining most of the time.

I was listening to 'Love in the Ice' Korean version at work and Changmin sings this high part at the second verse before his unison with Yunho: "Eodum Sogeul Hwanageh Pichugo~~~" I really couldn't help but imagine him making this face at the last word of that line:

XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD

Totally ruined the mood, man. I totally laughed. Like, totally. Hahaha, I'm just sharing the laughter.
